Rugby is above all a human adventure where everyone has their place, a sport of solidarity, of respect and of self-improvement.
Here, no individual success without the support of others. Each player contributes to the collective effort. It is this strength of the group that allows to move forward and to build the victory.
More than a sport, rugby is a school of life.
The props (1 and 3) surround the hooker (2). In the scrum, they rake the balls in the rucks and protect the ball. In the lineout, they carry their teammates. They are today more mobile and participate in offensive runs.
Profile: massive, rather small, very strong.
First line – Numbers 1, 2 and 3
Second line – Numbers 4 and 5
These workers of the shadow push in melee, jump in touch and clean the rucks. They shoulder the front rows and participate in the offensive phases.
Profile: tall, stocky, very strong.
Composed of the flankers (6 and 7) and the number 8, this line is versatile, combining power, speed and anticipation. The number 8 brings the ball out of the scrums.
Profile: tall, powerful, lively, enduring.
Third line – Numbers 6, 7 and 8
Game animator, he directs the actions and introduces the ball in the scrum. Agile, clever and quick, he maintains a key relationship with the forwards and the scrum-half.
Profile: small, skillful, strategist.
Half-scrum – Number 9
Half opening – Number 10
Strategist of the team, he often plays short passes, analyzes situations and directs the game. He forms the half-back partnership with the scrum-half.
Profile: agile, skillful, powerful, good with the foot, visionary.
They are the guardians of the midfield, combining defense and attack. One often focuses on defense, the other on offense, capable of creating space.
Profile: lively, fast, solid, good tackler.
Three-quarters center – Numbers 12 and 13
Three-quarter wing – Numbers 11 and 14
Essential for spreading the game wide, wingers often finish plays and score tries.
Profile: fast, very agile, elusive.
Fullback – Number 15
The last line of defense and the first to counter-attack, he covers the field, excels in defense, kicking, and aerial play.
Profile: tall, fast, enduring, good kicker.
